Right so, it seems that for the moment you guys are making a real map server as you ease into hosting/gamemastering.
And that is fine, even though I don't typically play real map OTs, I'll play here if it means I can play again/support my old Collapser Buddies(trademarked)
But you guys gotta do some things to separate yourself from the other 9000 real map ots that are out there at the moment
I'm not suggesting tons and tons of work on the real map, as I know a lot of your efforts are gonna be on the other projects, but some work is needed.
I enjoy that the game is a bit slower paced than most real map ots, as that allows me to actually get connected to my character, and it allows for me to chat to other people more while playing, instead of just power gaming and pvping non-stop.
But there are still some problems with the server, that can be easily EASILY fixed.
Actual Suggestions:
Remove the anti-luring system:
This should go without saving, one of the most fond memories of real Tibia was either dealing with lured monsters, or getting to the point that I could lure monsters onto other players. It just adds so much more depth to the game, and is something that is currently missing from the other real map ots.
Remove the corpse ownership system, and change the corpse id's to the moveable corpses on death:
As with above, stealing and competing over loot was always a contention point on real Tibia that added depth to the game. Getting mad over someone stealing your loot, or tossing a corpse into the water creates a real reason for players to dislike each other and to fight (pvp), rather then just pvping for pvping sake.
Don't start us with all the spells, let us buy them!:
Let the game actually be a rpg where I can build up my character! Having mini-goals in the game such as collecting gold to buy spells is actually rewarding, and gives me reason to play outside of PG TO PVP. Gold feels useless as it is right now, giving me something to use it on, and to build my character is would be nice.
Also, with people not having all the spells at the start allows players to be 'stronger' and 'weaker' thnn each other and it not be 100% level and equipment based, it is then developmental based.
Start us at level 1 not 8!:
When Real Tibia added in Dawnport it made the start of the game a lot more fun, and for those that haven't played real Tibia in a long time gives them something new to see. This also lets players build up their own characters equipment and money wise in non-pvp and allows them to test out all the vocations. That means you don't have to start us off with such a strong set, and let the players build up their own set by PLAYING THE GAME.
Promote the OT Client!:
The OT Client is pretty great, and allows for much more control over the game client wise. It makes it near-impossible to bot in most cases, and you can also add in new sprites, and edit the game in anyway you see fit. You could also fix the problem that was on Collapser with the HP bars overlapping each other at higher lowers, and instead show the corect numbers. The layout is also superior on the OT client, and just allows for a better playing experience.
Controversial Suggestions:
Remove the marketplace:
The marketplace cuts down on player-player interaction, and thus leads to less conflict, which is BAD.
Remove runes from shops:
Having runes in the shop kinda kills Tibia's market, and without them players will trade more often, and interact with each other more.
Make the Djinns and Rashid (and other buyer npcs) give different rewards, and not buy loot!:
The Djinns and Rashid stagnated Tibias market by giving everything a set price, and worked towards killing player trading. The quests themselves are fun to do, and I'd suggest instead having them give different rewards that DON'T kill player trading.
Remove level requirements and vocation requirements on equipiment:
This is mostly for me, but I hated -HATED- when they added in this change. If I want to hunt rotworms non-stop and make 80 million gold by level 60, I should be able to buy a Stone Cutters Axe and USE it. Fuck all that noise about not being able to use it properly, It's gay as shit. Same goes for the armours I can't wear because I picked the wrong vocation. It pigeon holes stuff so much.
Add Durability to equipment:
Equipment should break if not maintained over time. The biggest problem with real Tibia is that none of the loot every disappears, thus making equipment lose value over time. But if equipment broke over time, this would force players to hunt more for equipment and trade among each other more often.
I have TONS of other suggestions, but I feel that all I listed here would help make a real map OT stand out from the rest, and really allow people to get into the game more, rather than playing it as a PVP-War server, as such most RL Tibia maps are.
