This really isnt too difficult of a concept We have the ability to add special attributes to weapons, such as mana drain, chance to attack an extra target, poison, curse, etc.
Lets create runes that give the player the option to augment their weapon's damage with different attributes. Of course this would take away from the weapon's raw damage, but it adds all sorts of strategical depth.
What do you guys think?

I fundamentally don't know how to do this. Could you check on OTlands if someone has done this before? Any version of TFS will do. If I have a sample I can work it out.

You know how to make weapons with different effects like poison and shit right? If I'm not mistaken you could just have the rune turn a weapon of yours in to the same weapon with slightly nerfed stats and the unique traits. That would probably be a really roundabout way to do it but it seems like that would work. I'll do some research when I get a chance and look in to if there is an easier way to do it

Aff. Is there a way to have two items with the same look, or would it be easier to just work out a different way to do this?

Heres one a guy did where he removes the players item and replaces it with an enchanted item. This is an example of using new ids for an item rather than enchanting the origional. otland.net/threads/enchant-weapons-with-enchanted-gems.13118/Big idea though. On Zulu we were able to enchant 2-handed weapons. This was done by giving the weapons a "charges" attribute. We can make a rune or other item be used on the weapon to grant it 1 charge. Having a charge will grant the weapon special abilities and we can make it so charges wont go down.
